The Inmates Are Running The Asylum

The book I’m reading right now. It’s an Alan Cooper one and it is excellent. Talks about the control programmers have over the development of applications and their design. I’ve been a programmer for many years and I think everything he says is absolutely true!!! How to change it though, that’s the real challenge. Maybe programmers need to go on a course on how not to design (interaction-type) applications! I don’t know, but if you’ve got at least one gun programmer on your team, the project may succeed only because they are so good that they can make up with good quality code and stability what the other bring down in design. Otherwise, listen to the designer. If the project fails, it’s their fault! ;-)
